That Data Episode

Data is the life-blood of your business, but how often do you stop and think about it? Cognism CEO James Isilay dives into the details of data management and regulatory compliance;

Without data it’s pretty difficult to do marketing! We’ve worked with Cognism for years to supplement our own and our customers’ data sets. So we invited their CEO, James Isilay, to explore the world of data with us:

Why ownership of data is a problem for many businesses:

“Bringing in new contacts on a regular basis usually isn’t somebody’s [primary] job. And so it’s done very poorly in a lot of CRM systems.

How data management requires a range of different people and skills:

“Given all the tools and technologies that are there, you need really need an engineer, a geek to dive into all of that, which is very separate to a regulatory person that looks at it from a regulatory perspective. I think it’d be rare to find a data geek, who also is a lawyer.”

What approach to data systems will serve your needs best:

“SMBs gravitate towards all-in-one platforms, and mid-market enterprise companies will have the talent internally to thread the best-in-class systems together and get better results.”
