That B2B Comedy Episode
THAT MARKETING PODCAST •
Navigating the tricky world of being funny as a B2B brand.
Everyone likes a laugh. But can B2B brands wield humour effectively without losing their way?
Adam Hunt, funder of White Label Comedy, believes that they can. In this episode, he explains:
- How to integrate comedy with your existing messaging:
“So what we need to do is look at what’s already working, and then say ‘How can I use humour, to make people focus on that more, make it more effective, make it more impactful?'”
- What using comedy does for your audience:
“What jokes do is they show an audience that this brand, or this business, or even this comedian, get it, they understand me, they understand my world.”
- Where brands most often come unstuck:
“Where brands come unstuck is poor choices, over topics, angles. And they forget that humour for a brand is still a piece of marketing, and it still needs to fulfil all of those other criteria.”
About the Speaker
I’m Adam Hunt – a TV Producer turned Copywriter who loves it when brands make us laugh, and hates how rarely that happens.
There’s an art to writing jokes that work for brands – and a science that makes sure the end result is on-brand, on-message and won’t get you cancelled.
I brought together TV’s best comedy writers* as the White Label Comedy Hive-Mind, to help brands of all shapes and sizes entertain, engage and sell.**
If you want your socials to start pulling their weight, and actually – finally – contribute to the bottom line, then we should talk.
* (not as hard as it sounds – they were all in the same branch of Starbucks complaining about the WiFi).
** I keep them in a small bucket on my coffee table, occasionally feeding them episodes of Cheers.
